State Cup Review

Three long weeks of soccer are over and State Champions have been crowned.  Things are quiet (for now) at the complex until FWR comes to down towards the end of June.  Our referees did a great job overall during the tournament, helped greatly by mentoring throughout.  Let's take a look at some of the things we did well, while also looking at what we can improve on.

Work at it, all year long

During the pre-tournament and pre-finals meetings it was stressed that we needed to "pick it up."  Referees rose to the challenge and made sure the little things were taken care of, like having subs wait until the player is off the pitch.  The players all approached the game with higher intensity and, for the most part, we stayed a step ahead.  But the question is: Why don't we do this all year long?  As we rest a little bit during the summer think about how we can elevate our level of refereeing and apply it to the regular season games.  Let's not wait until State Cup next year!
