It seems like the summer "break" has just begun but it will rapidly be time to register for 2010. Don't be one of the people waiting until the last minute to do the test and fill out the paperwork. Make sure you attend a recertification clinic in your area. You can find them on the NMSRA website or by clicking here. Keep in the mind the Statewide Recertification Clinic is August 8. This year our guest instructor will be Sandra Hunt and its sure to be a great clinic! It will be in Albuquerque at the CNM Campus (Smith Brasher Hall Room 100). Email Dave Vehar for more details. Our favorite event is looming... the Fitness Test!
If you are a Grade 7 or higher your duties don't end at the recertification clinics. Make sure you are in attendance for a fitness test and have completed your yearly Maintenance Assessment. The fitness test would be a good idea to take if you are a Grade 8 Referee looking to upgrade next year!
Far West Regionals 2009
NM was well represented yet again in Lancaster, California, by a solid group of referees. In attendance this year: Oscar Toquinto, Santos Toquinto, Kerstin Shrader, Amanda Forletta, Frank Serianni, Seth Gilpin, Mark Merritt, CJ Merritt, Jorge Garcia, Kris Grano and our assessor Nigel Holman. The whole group did very well with four of our referees getting assignments on championship matches. A special congratulations goes out to our Youth Referees of the Year: Kerstin Shrader and Seth Gilpin! They were recognized at a group meeting along with other candidates from each state.
You can read up on the group's experience by clicking here. Remember, for all the up to date information please bookmark the NMSYRA Blog: http://nmsyra.blogspot.com. Information is updated on a weekly basis (sometimes more!). If you would like to submit an article to be posted on the blog please email Kris Grano.
